The Historic City of Ayutthaya

Located some 80 kilometers north of Bangkok, the historic city of Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991, offers a fascinating glimpse into Thailand's rich history and ancient culture.

Founded in 1350, Ayutthaya was the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Siam (1351-1767).

Today, the ruins of the old city form an archaeological site housing over 400 Buddhist temples, monasteries, palaces and religious statues.
